On August 3rd, Half-Court Future brought its purpose-driven mission to Ducketts Common in Haringey, where 25 young athletes aged 13 to 18 took part in a one-day 3x3 basketball camp designed to develop both skill and character. With support from our incredible sponsors including Sureserve, Drippy Grippy, Fellowship of the Rim, Bouncewear London, and Hoop Chips, this camp was more than just basketball. It was a platform for growth and transformation.
Set in the heart of North London, the open-air court became a space filled with energy, focus, and connection. The players came ready to compete, ready to be challenged, and ready to grow. From the first whistle, our coaching staff delivered high-intensity training tailored to the fast-paced, high-IQ demands of 3x3 basketball. We focused on concepts like spacing, ball movement, transition defense, and decision-making under pressure, while emphasizing the power of teamwork and communication.
As always, the impact extended beyond the scoreboard.
At Half-Court Future, we believe sport is just the beginning. Throughout the day, players engaged in mentorship conversations, team-building activities, and leadership-focused workshops that pushed them to think deeper about who they are, what they stand for, and how they want to lead both on and off the court. Topics like identity, discipline, and accountability came alive through authentic dialogue and shared experiences.
The atmosphere at Ducketts Common made the day even more meaningful. Local residents stopped to watch, cheer, and engage with the action. The court became a hub of positivity and inspiration. We witnessed emerging leaders step up, teammates encourage each other through tough drills, and players fully embrace the challenge of being coached with both intensity and care.
This camp was also an important step in growing the 3x3 game across the UK. With its Olympic recognition and global expansion, 3x3 is opening new doors for young players. Through this experience, the Haringey athletes not only developed their skills but also gained insight into new pathways for competition and exposure.
